Sunglasses To Wear When Driving
We’re proud of a lot of things at Vigor Eyewear. We take a lot of pride in the quality of the products that we make and the technology we use that goes into each and every one of our sunglasses. The polarization in our lenses is an aspect of our products that we’ve put a lot of thought and effort into. Polarization offers plenty of benefits, particularly when you’re driving.
A driver’s best asset is their quality of vision and as such, proper measures should be taken to protect them. Glare from the sun on a bright and sunny day may seem beautiful and hazard-free, and to most people, it is. But for drivers, a bright and sunny day can present problems for them. Mostly, glare reflecting off the road and/or the hood of their car.
Light reflected from surfaces such as a road or a highly reflective surface, such as the hood of a car, is ‘horizontally polarized’. This means that, instead of light hitting a surface and being scattered in all directions as it normally would, reflected light generally travels in a more horizontal direction. This creates an annoying and often dangerous intensity of light that we know as glare. Plenty of car accidents have been caused by glare obscuring a driver’s field of vision.
Using polarized lenses while driving can dramatically reduce glare caused by the sun’s rays. They reduce eyestrain and improve visual comfort for the driver as well as improving contrast and visual clarity.
What lens colour(s) are best suited for driving?
Look for sunglasses that have orange, grey, brown or green tints. Grey tinted lenses in particular are good for reducing brightness while causing minimal colour distortion.
Look for glasses that are big and wide along the temple. Sunglasses won’t protect you from glare if the light is shining in from the side and ruining your peripheral vision, which is another key asset for driving. Make sure you’re protected from the sun’s glare from all angles when considering which sunglasses to pick.
At Vigor, we design our lenses to be more than just ANY polarized lenses. We’ve incorporated so much technology into our glasses for the purpose of making everything clearer to our customers, which allows them to play harder. Every Vigor lens is composed of as many as 10 layers, built to be the most technologically superior lens available. Our P.O.V lenses provide 360-degree protection from glare, making them ideal for driving safely when the sun is shining.
