Perfect Sunglasses For Your Face
At Vigor, we have a wide selection of sunglasses available and in-depth details about the technology involved in their construction. Finding the right fit is very important to us and to you. It allows you to play harder without being limited by distractions. When determining the perfect fit for your sunglasses, knowing what your face shape is will help you find a wearable, comfortable fit that will give you a great look.
Here’s what you can do to help find the perfect pair of sunglasses:
- Take measurements of your face
- Translate those measurements to determine your face shape
- Search for the sunglasses style that compliments your face shape.
Measure Your Face
Measuring the dimensions of your face will help determine your face shape. Stand in front of a mirror, grab a tape measure and follow these steps:
Step 1: Measure from cheekbone to cheekbone
Place the end of a tape measure just below your eye line to find the top of your cheekbone. Measure to the same point on the other side of your face. Record this measurement.
Step 2: Measure your jawline
Feel below your ears to find the ends of your jawbone. Measure from the end of your jawbone to the other end, making sure to wrap the tape measure around the bottom of your face. Record this measurement.
Step 3: Measure your face length
Measure from the center of your hairline straight down to the bottom of your chin. Record this measurement.
Step 4: Measure your forehead length
Measure the width of your forehead from one side of your hairline to the other side halfway between your eyebrows and the top of your hairline. Record this measurement.
Determine Your Face Shape/What Style compliments it
Evaluate these measurements and use them as a guide to determine your face shape. Here are some of the more general face shapes:
If your jawline and face length measurements are around the same, then you have a square face shape. This face shape is often defined by a broad forehead and strong jawline. If you’ve determined your face shape as a square, look for sunglasses with oval or rounded frames such as the Vigor Flight or Vigor Turnberberry.
Round faces have noticeable curves and less defined angles. Your ideal sunglasses should feature frames that are angular and boxy, so they’ll help elongate your face and make it look thinner. Look for rectangle or square sunglasses such as the Vigor Boulder or Vigor National. Also wrap-around frames such as the Vigor Kruger and Vigor Monument will be a great fit.
Oval shaped faces can pull off almost any style of sunglasses, so you have the pick of the litter. The best look falls in the style of rectangular style frames, but again, any style can work for you.
Rectangular face shapes are long and narrow with few angles. A rectangular face shape work especially well with oversized sunglasses. Also, rectangular lenses or sunglasses with thick frames add width to a longer face. Sharp angles and bold lines will give oblong faces an edge, sharpening otherwise soft features. Vigor’s Monument, National and Rush models are the best choice for rectangular face shapes.
These face shapes are widest at the temples and narrowest towards the chin. Sunglasses that feature wider, lower-set edges with no straight lines along the top work especially well for this face shape because they shift attention downward and elongate the face. This face shape will work well with the Vigor Pulpit, Vigor Piper or Vigor Raven.
